Founder / Head Trainer, Eliza Robinson

Founder and Head Trainer, Eliza, hiking with her personal dog, Lally.Hi, folks! My name is Eliza. I’m the Founder and Head Trainer of Old Dominion Dog Training in Richmond, Virginia. A native of Richmond and a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, my background is in marketing and communications.

A life-long dog lover, I discovered balanced training in early 2012 while researching training options for my Brittany puppy, Lally. Working with an awesome local trainer first on basic on-leash obedience then later on advanced off-leash obedience, I gained a great respect for the practice of balanced training. Often with dogs, it isn’t enough to only reward the good behavior and expect the unwanted behaviors to go away — we must address those unwanted behaviors directly to create meaningful relationships with our dogs. The biggest reward for a well-behaved dog is inclusion in our daily routines, as well as in the fun adventures!

Under the guidance of Jeff Gellman of Solid K9 Training and Sean O’Shea of The Good Dog Training & Rehabilitation, I’ve honed my dog training and handling skills, picking up new and effective techniques along the way. I’m an associate member of the International Association of Canine Professionals. I founded Old Dominion Dog Training with one goal in mind — to provide committed dog owners with effective training tools and empower them to make life with their dogs easier and more rewarding.
